Inside the Academy

Guides, videos, podcasts and deep dives, for every part of the standard.

The Academy isn't just content. It's a sequence: confirm your route, learn what each competency asks of you, then get ready for the application and the interview.

01 · Learn

Every competency, taught the way you learn best.

Each area of the standard gets the full treatment: what it covers, what assessors expect to see, and where applications typically fall short, with clear examples of what good looks like.

  • Learning objectives
  • Overview videos
  • Narrated technical knowledge videos
  • Study guides
  • Deep dives

02 · Apply

Application and interview, prepared, not improvised.

The assessment doesn't reward the work you've done. It rewards how well you evidence the judgement behind it, and that's exactly what the Academy gets you ready to do before you submit a word.

  • How to prepare your written application: what good looks like, and how to write one that meets it
  • What questions to expect at interview, how to structure your answers, and what assessors are listening for
  • Clarity on the whole application process: what happens, when, and what's expected of you at each step

A guided journey, whatever your experience

Onboarding confirms your route, then the journey sequences what to learn and what to skip. You always know what's next, and why.

Every competency covered

All 28 competences of the ChPP standard, mandatory and elective. Whichever subset your pathway calls for, nothing the assessment asks of you is left to chance.

Clarity on the process

What the assessment involves, what it costs APM-side, how long it takes, and what to expect at each stage, set out plainly before you commit.

Why it works

Most resources tell you what ChPP is. This one shows you how to pass it.

Everything in the Academy comes from a former APM assessor and coach, someone who has sat on the other side of the table and helped more than 100 people reach Chartered status, many of them first time. You don't just learn what the standard says, you learn how it will be assessed in practice.

FAQs

Before you ask.

Who is the Academy for?

Project professionals preparing for the APM Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) application and interview. The journey adapts to your experience level: newer practitioners get the fundamentals in full, while experienced practitioners can move straight to evidencing what they already do.

How do I know which pathway I'm on?

It depends on where you are on your journey as a project professional, and whether any of your qualifications are recognised by APM. No recognised assessment puts you on Pathway 1. A recognised assessment for technical knowledge (such as the APM PPQ) means Pathway 2; one for professional practice (such as the PMQ with validated experience) means Pathway 3. Holding both, usually through an employer's scheme, points to Pathway 4. Your pathway shapes which competences you evidence, not your price, and we confirm it with you during onboarding, so you are never left guessing.

What is the difference between the two memberships?

The Academy Portal (£499 + VAT) is the complete self-paced learning experience: every competency, every format, and full guidance on the application and interview, worked through in your own time.

The Portal + Blended Cohort (£2,499 + VAT) includes that same portal and adds a place on a guided cohort, four live online sessions across four months, two group plus one-to-one application coaching and a one-to-one mock interview with a former APM assessor, so you have live guidance, accountability and expert feedback alongside the material.

How does the blended cohort work?

You join a cohort for four live online sessions, one a month across four months: two group sessions (a kick-off and a learning checkpoint) to orient you and track progress, then two one-to-one sessions with a former APM assessor, application form coaching and a mock interview. The sessions are timed to match how a strong application comes together, and you work through the portal material between them.

Is this a subscription?

No. Both memberships are a one-off payment. The Academy Portal is £499 + VAT; the Blended Cohort, which adds four live sessions, is £1,999 + VAT. Nothing recurs.

How much time does it take?

The Academy is fully self-paced, and every area comes as reading, video and audio, so it fits around real work. How long the whole journey takes really depends on your pathway and how much of the standard you already do day to day. The guided journey makes it clear what your route needs and what you can skip.

What's included, and what costs extra?

Both memberships include the full portal: the guidance library for every competency your route calls for, the complete resource kit, application guidance, interview preparation and the guided journey. The Blended Cohort adds four live online sessions across four months, two group, and two one-to-one with a former APM assessor, on top of everything in the portal.

APM's own application fees are separate and paid directly to APM. We set out exactly what those are during onboarding, so there are no surprises.

What happens if my application isn't successful?

It happens, and it's recoverable. The Academy helps you make sense of the assessor feedback and rebuild the weaker parts of your submission, and you can book a debrief to turn that feedback into a clear plan for resubmitting. Most applications that fall short do so on how they're evidenced rather than on ability, and that's the part the Academy is built to fix.
